Martha Murphy has had cervical dystonia that affects her neck and shoulder for 36 years. It took 12 years for her to be correctly diagnosed. She started the Dystonia Support & Advocacy Group of San Diego County in 1987 and remains the group’s leader. Martha also works part-time for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation as their Brain Bank Liaison and serves as their Pacific/Northwest Regional Coordinator. In addition, she has been volunteering at the Info. Desk at Alvarado Hospital since 1995. She has a B.A. in Sociology and a Minor in Journalism from SDSU.
