But it also marked the start of something new – going Beyond the Hour to commit to lasting action on climate change. In 2012, Earth Hour celebrated its largest event to date with more than 6,950 cities and towns in 152 countries and territories switching off their lights, and with hundreds of thousands of people accepting an IWIYW challenge to take their commitment to the planet beyond the hour.     In 'paying it forward,' woman finds way to inspire others

    This is "What Women Want" — and no, it doesn't involve Mel Gibson. "What Women Want" is a brand new, twice-monthly inspirational talk at Waterstreet Café at Battleship Cove. It features prominent women business owners, writers and other speakers who aim to inspire their fellow working women. "I wanted to bring in women speakers to boost other women in our community. Working women who have families feel spread thin these days. They wonder if they're doing the best they can. I know, because I'm one of them," said Janine Ouellette Sullivan, who started the series.
