Worldreader is a US and European non-profit company whose mission is to make digital books available to children in the developing world, so millions of people can improve their lives. As of March 2012, they have put over 75,000 e-books - and the life-changing, power-creating ideas contained within them – into the hands of 1,000 children in Sub Saharan Africa. Those children now read more, read better, and are improving their communities. Digital technology sharply lowers the cost and complexity of delivering books everywhere. As we make reading easier and less expensive, the the world will read more.

In 'paying it forward,' woman finds way to inspire others

This is "What Women Want" — and no, it doesn't involve Mel Gibson. "What Women Want" is a brand new, twice-monthly inspirational talk at Waterstreet Café at Battleship Cove. It features prominent women business owners, writers and other speakers who aim to inspire their fellow working women. "I wanted to bring in women speakers to boost other women in our community. Working women who have families feel spread thin these days. They wonder if they're doing the best they can. I know, because I'm one of them," said Janine Ouellette Sullivan, who started the series.
